Financial Prosperity for the Christian in the Gospel
Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. - 3 John 1:2
That the blessing of Abraham (riches & success) might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. - Galatians 3:14
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. - 2 Corinthians 8:9
Your kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (everyone is rich there). - Matthew 6:10
Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause. Yes, let them say continually, “The LORD be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!” - Psalm 35:27
When the non-Christian world writes about "how to be rich", they speak of "practical" habits like the following:
... and doing such things works to some degree, so long as Satan doesn't give you cancer, send a major car wreck your way or destroy your churches and nation, but such actions are not supernatural at all.
Colossians 2:8 calls such actions "basic principles" "human thinking" or the KJV calls them "the rudiments of the world" and warns us about trusting such things instead of Jesus Christ.
Non-Christians "religiously" perform basic principles of success all the time, and prosper, and receive from Satan, and think this is God's favor, and then look at the Christian who isn't rich, and says, "Why do I need this JESUS?? Good thing I didn't fall for THAT religion!" ... and then walks away thinking they are so very smart, and eventually they die and go to Hell.
Per Galatians 3:14, and 3 John 1:2 and 1 John 3:17 it's God's will for the Christian that they prosper financially and enjoy success and peace.
The question is, how can we Christians prosper supernaturally, beyond the "common sense" of the world, with the active help and clear favor of the Father in Jesus' name?
Same answer as anything else in the Christian life: by faith!
Faith is when you believe and have a firm relying trust God has sent you something because God promised it, before you see it.
For example Hebrews 11 is filled with accounts of believers acting on the promises of God, while expecting divine intervention, and then experiencing it.
Faith is actions and words and praise launched from believing God's promises are for you, now.
There are many "Christian" actions that can be taken, that if not done in faith, will amount to "works without faith", which is a sin just as "faith without works" per James 2:17.
Here's a list of how one might walk in freedom spiritually with the right intent of the heart, and how one might do it religiously with the wrong motive as a work without faith. God always sees our heart attitudes.
As I revise this article, I'm realizing that much of the aforementioned about prospering financially has to do with walking after the Spirit of God, when all I meant to do when writing this page was how to help our Father in Heaven bless you with an abundant supply of money.
And that seems like the even larger lesson here: to follow after the Spirit of God.
"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." - John 16:13
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. - Romans 8:14
If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. - Galatians 5:25
"And now, behold, bound by the Spirit, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there..." - Acts 20:22
Walking in the Spirit per Romans 8 means that we have confident assurance God is blessing our finances, blessing our investment in the spreading of the Gospel, protecting the investments He told us to invest in, sending financial help, securing favorable work, supernaturally preserving and protecting that which is ours, and arranging things for our benefit in ways seen and unseen by you and/or by others.
The core of the Spirit led life might be summed up as follows:
1) Become a Born Again Christian, get water (full immersion) baptized, receive the Holy Spirit, and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
2) Believe the Bible when it says the Holy Spirit is sent to the Born Again Christian help and strengthen you
3) Read the Bible a lot, and think a lot about Bible verses that the Holy Spirit impresses on you
4) Do what the Bible says
5) Worship God, love everyone, love enemies, walk in love
6) pray in the Spirit as much as you can, pray about problems with the mindset that your Father WANTS to help you and agrees on a Godly solution in light of the victory and blessing that's your Gospel right when you believe in Jesus
7) learn to listen to the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart
8) pray for enemies
We walk in the Spirit with a continual attitude of faith, whereby we have expectation that God is moving on our behalf, and we trust God is working things out for our benefit and good, so we don't worry about the future, and we have continual joy, despite what our eyes and ears are telling us, knowing that God tests our faith.
God doesn't mind if you have plenty of money, so long as you don't LOVE money per 1 Timothy 6:10, and you don't covet what belongs to others, both of which are best done ... spiritually not religiously.
Money serves the Christian, not the other way around.
Remember: God tests our faith. May we be ready.
7) bind demons from touching your money

There are many "Christian" actions that can be taken, that if not done in faith, will amount to "works without faith", which is a sin just as "faith without works" per James 2:17.
Here's a list of how one might walk in freedom spiritually with the right intent of the heart, and how one might do it religiously with the wrong motive as a work without faith. God always sees our heart attitudes.
- Worship Jesus - We bless the Lord and the church, and our own lives as we worship Jesus in private, alone.
- Spiritually - We love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, because Jesus saw us lost and going to Hell, and came to us and rescued us from Hell, so having fallen in love with Jesus with all of our hearts, so with much gratefulness toward Jesus we love and adore and worship Jesus, and Jesus gives us everything we want including plenty of money.
- Religiously - We say words of worship, while thinking about last night's game.
- Walk in love toward your fellow man - love works no evil toward their fellow man, so have an attitude of love constantly, also since faith works by love, Galatians 5:6
- Spiritually - We love our fellow man, always doing things to them, that we'd want done to ourselves, because we have spent much time practicing the presence of God, and we love and appreciate everything God has done for us in Christ, so we take the love God has shown us, and we show love for others, confident that God is preparing more blessings for us, and thus God guides us to maintain all relationships through love and forgiveness, maximizing opportunities to work with others and prosper.
- Religiously - We are nice to people, fearful that we're going to be judged by God if we do otherwise, or we are nice without love or concern for their well-being, since we only want God's blessing. Or worse, we are nice to others because we want to be seen by other people as being nice, and thought of as kind by men.
- Help the poor since Proverbs 19:17 says "he that has pity on the poor lends to the Lord; and that which he has given will [the Lord] pay him again" and since Job who was stupendously rich said in Job 29:12, "because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him" and said in Job 31:17, "...if I have eaten my food alone without letting the fatherless eat any of it..." so obviously helping the poor and fatherless has a blessing attached to it
- Spiritually - We love God and love people, and we have genuine pity on the poor, so we help them with food, clothing, or money
- Religiously - We want riches, and roughly handle the poor while keeping arrogant sins in our lives, and immediately doubt God will help
- We fight evil demons that wreck lives and nations, since Job who was stupendously wealthy said in Job 29:17 "And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth" so we use our God given authority to pray to change the headlines, and we participate in ministries that deliver people from demons in Jesus' name. We don't ignore demons that sponsor or back evil, we fight them in Jesus' name.
- Spiritually - We love God, and love people, so with a willing mind and heart we give ourselves to fight.
- Religiously - We join a deliverance team or a prayer team to meet women.
- Follow the leadings of the inner-witness of the Holy Spirit inside you - "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." - Romans 8:14
- Spiritually - We pay attention to our thoughts, so that we filter every thought through our knowledge of the Bible, so that ungodly thoughts and ideas are discarded. We are confident that we received the Holy Spirit when we were Born Again, and we know this inner-voice of the Holy Spirit, though it sounds like our own conscience, is the supernatural divine voice of God, and He leads us into prosperous business opportunities, and helps us make good choices at our workplaces, and leads us to fast and pray and believe for good jobs that pay well where we are surrounded by kind people.
- Religiously - We think every voice inside of us is the Holy Spirit, without comparing what those voices say to what the Bible says. The Holy Spirit will never contradict the Bible. Never.
- Stop worrying and trust God to take care of you - 1 Peter 5:7 says we must give the whole list of ALL our anxieties to the Lord, so we stop worrying about those things, so that God can take better care of us than we ever could take care of ourselves.
- Spiritually - You've said it to yourself and out loud thousands of times, that the Lord God cares for me watchfully, and because you meditated on this promise of God day and night, you believe it from the bottom of your heart, and therefore God ordains and arranges for you to enjoy "good success".
- Religiously - You suppress your fear and dread in your own human strength, expecting the devil to pounce.
- Follow Jesus in His perfect will - Matthew 4:19 and other verses say we must follow Jesus, and Romans 12:2 says we must find out God's perfect will for our lives. We can't do our own thing, and expect God to bless it.
- Spiritually - Receive dreams of blessing, and interpret them with the Bible as a guide, knowing a dream from God will never command that you sin or contradict the Bible, and then after the dream is interpreted correctly we think, talk, walk, and live in a way where the dream comes to pass.
- Religiously - Get multiple dreams of going to Miami and passing out tracts and street preaching, and ask PAstor Lukewarm what they mean, and he tells you dreams are from pizza (he's wrong), so you sit at home and watch Dancing with the Stars.
- Live Clean - Christians who live with sin in their lives are at risk of going to Hell per Luke 12:45-47. Eyewitnesses who have had guided tours of Hell just as Paul's friend was shown Heaven in 2 Corinthians 12, have reported seeing Christians in Hell. God owes you no blessing nor Heaven when you are living in sin.
- Spiritually - Believe and say verses that talk about your new life in Christ like Romans 6:2,3,4,18,21 Colossians 2:11, and 2 Corinthians 5:17, so that you live and walk and speak clean.
- Religiously - Don't sleep around, don't get drunk, don't smoke, don't wear provocative clothing, and therefore pride fills that person, and they think that they're better than others who do such things, and talk about them behind their back to others.
- Give 10% of your gross income - We are commanded in the New Testament to give to missionaries so the will and work of God continues on the earth. Lord willing, neither you nor any Christian you know has fallen for Satan's lie that, "I don't have to tithe!" (Please see this. Pastors need to eat and be clothed, and need time to read their Bibles and pray, and learn of Jesus, so they can effectively minister to us.)
- Spiritually - Give cheerfully to partner in missionary work, with much gladness that others will hear the Gospel, and be Born Again, baptized, healed, and become friends of Jesus, and that you will meet them in Heaven, and that Jesus is pleased with you.
- Religiously - Giving to a church so that others, or folks on the church board of directors, are impressed by our giving.
- Use your mouth correctly - Romans 10:9-10 and Proverbs 18:21 and Mark 11:23 say our faith filled words have power to change our circumstances, if we believe those Bible promises. Therefore, we must speak blessings on our finances, by saying we are wealthy and successful. If God was pleased to save you, pleased to sanctify you, and pleased to dwell in you, will not God also be pleased to honor your words that are according to His will?
- Spiritually - Like Joshua chapter 1, we continually meditate on the promises of God day and night, so that we speak with confidence about things that be not, as though they were, and then they come to pass.
- Religiously - We don't curse others, we don't use profanity, but the moment trouble comes along, we confess how doomed we are, or how we are going to get sick, or poor, etc
- Bind demons from touching your money - Luke 10:19 says we have authority over demons, and Acts 3:6 says we have that authority in Jesus' name so long as we submit to God per James 4:7. For more on the subject of authority over demons with regard to finances, please watch this.
- Spiritually - We are confident in our authority, because when the Bible says, "Submit to God, and resist the devil and he will flee from you" we believe it, and we keep at it, and don't quit per Luke 18:1, until we see the results.
- Religiously - We bind demons one time, and then whine to Pastor Lukewarm about nothing happening, and he "comforts" us by saying all the demons are in Africa.
As I revise this article, I'm realizing that much of the aforementioned about prospering financially has to do with walking after the Spirit of God, when all I meant to do when writing this page was how to help our Father in Heaven bless you with an abundant supply of money.
